The Home Stretch

Now that I’m out of my processed white flour induced coma and thinking clearly again, I remembered that we can begin to incorporate lentils into our diet. I eat them regularly and find them to be a refreshing change of pace to potatoes and pasta. The following link contains one of my favorite recipes and the lentils are extremely versatile. They have a slight acidity from red wine vinegar that really complements foods with a higher in fat content.

2 more weeks DETOX No POLAR PLUNGE

You bet I'm gonna FINISH cause there is no way I'm gonna jump thru a foot of ice in 20 degree weather in the middle of a lake. This is Wisconsin people do that here, maybe they need a brain detox. I'm commited to not get commited.

Week #2- Progress Made

Week 2 ended while we were in Texas, that was a challenge in itself. Everything was going good, eating better, off dairy (very hard), then we went to Texas, beef country. Friday nite dinner was a Chipolte Tuna (Barry saw John Terpin's Tuna & said that's not 'man food' as his 3" pork chop arrived). Then after the meeting Saturday we went to a BBQ place, no salads & only green veggie was green beans with bacon in them. Still the results were good, I've lost a total of 11 lbs & feel good. Now for week 3.

John Stanley’s “Detox Pancakes”

John Stanley came up with a great recipe for pancakes you can eat on the detox.
The other morning I walked in the kitchen to find a surprised five year old standing there.
“Mom I am making you breakfast, it’s a surprise.”
That meant I needed to leave. I was so impressed with his breakfast. He wanted to make “Flying Jacks” ( pancakes cooked by John (Dad) which are thrown up in the air and John Stanley catches them on the plate) daddy was at work already so John Stanley was doing this on his own.

Metabolic Cleanse Bus Wheels got loose

Really was hungry last night for bread! Had a tortilla naked that didn't do it, had one slice of healthy multi-grain whole grains bread. That did it that's a NO NO. All is well morning of day 4 down 2 and 1/2 #. I envision my next physical in June, it's gonna be good.

Agony or Extacy THE DETOX CLEANSE Day one

Started the Metabolic Cleanse: Thought I was mixing up some Pepto Bismal, didn't taste like it, didn't taste like anything just some grainey water. I'm off the next four days shouldn't be a big deal.

I was just about to give in and make a cup of coffee, organic of course. lol- But I stopped and decided to come and read some blogs instead. Thanks Everyone who is sharing in on this detox journey. Instead I
sipping on some yummy mint green tea.

Fruit or Grain?

Has anyone googled quinoa? The information is fascinating. I learned that quinoa is not a true grain, but rather the botanical fruit of an herb plant. Why has Alton Brown not shared this information? I’m sure he thinks it's “Good Eats.” Maybe I missed that episode. Anyway, it’s treated as a grain in cooking. The website www.quinoa.net has several tasty recipes that we can enjoy while detoxifying.
